Educational Qualification
Candidates must satisfy the following educational qualifications.
For Most Trades
Applicants should have:
- Passed Matriculation (Class 10) with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board.
- Possess an NCVT/SCVT National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the relevant trade.
Note: The minimum 50% marks requirement in Class 10 is not applicable to SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology & Radiology)

Selection Process
The Northeast Frontier Railway will not conduct any written examination or interview for this recruitment. Candidates will be shortlisted purely on the basis of their academic performance and eligibility conditions mentioned in the notification.

Merit List Preparation
The merit list will be prepared unit-wise, trade-wise, and community-wise.
For most trades, the merit will be calculated by taking the average percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation and ITI.
Merit Formula
Final Merit = Average of:
- Percentage of Marks in Class 10
- Percentage of Marks in ITI
For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) and Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology) trades, merit will be prepared using the average percentage of:
- Class 10 Marks
- Class 12 (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) Marks
In case two candidates secure equal marks:
- Older candidate will get higher rank.
- If age is also the same, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier will be given preference.
Candidates approximately 1.5 times the notified vacancies will be called for document verification.
Training Period
The training duration depends on the trade.
- Most ITI Trades – 1 Year
- Medical Laboratory Technician – 1 Year 3 Months
- Some Industrial Automation Trades – 6 Months
